Welcome, I’m Guylene Lucien, DNP

A dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner with over 25 years of experience in healthcare. I have worked across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, personality disorders, and substance use. I have also worked with individuals experiencing severe mental illness, including those requiring court-ordered treatment. These experiences have allowed me to care for patients across the full spectrum of mental health, and they continue to shape the way I approach each person I meet.

What makes my approach different is not only my clinical experience, but the way I connect with people. I believe that effective care starts with listening – that in and of itself is a deeply effective medicine. I take the time to understand your story, your background, and what truly matters to you. My goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care that feels safe, practical, and grounded in real life.

My journey into this work is deeply personal. I began my career as a nurse in Haiti, and when I moved to the United States, I had to start completely over. I was unable to obtain my transcripts, which meant returning to school, learning a new language, and building a career from the ground up. That experience taught me resilience, patience, and what it truly feels like to be unseen and unheard. It also gave me a broader perspective on healthcare systems and the importance of compassion in patient care.

Over the years, I have seen firsthand how often patients are rushed through appointments, sometimes in as little as 15 minutes, without feeling truly understood. That never felt right to me. I knew I wanted to practice differently. In my work, I prioritize time, connection, and trust. I believe patients deserve to feel heard, valued, and supported, not just treated.

My Story

Patients often tell me that working with me feels different. They feel calm, safe, and able to open up. Many come in for medication management but find themselves wanting to stay and talk, because they feel genuinely listened to. I make it a point to remember the small details of your life, whether it is something about your family, your work, or something that brings you joy. Those details matter. They are part of your story, and they are part of your healing.

My approach combines medication management with lifestyle and wellness support. I believe that mental health is not just about medication. It is about the whole picture. Small steps matter. Whether it is improving sleep, getting outside for a short walk, or creating simple daily routines, these changes can have a meaningful impact over time. Healing does not happen overnight. It is a process, and I am here to support you through it.

Outside of my work, I value connection and time with loved ones. I enjoy early morning hikes, traveling with family and friends, and taking moments to recharge and reflect. These experiences help me stay grounded and remind me of the importance of balance, which I also encourage in the care I provide.

At my core, I am someone who listens, supports, and shows up for others. Whether in my personal life or my practice, I strive to create a space where people feel comfortable being themselves, without judgment.

If you are looking for a provider who will take the time to truly understand you and walk alongside you in your journey, I would be honored to work with you.
